Wilgerbosdrift’s inform stallion Flower Alley had a pair of winners at Fairview on Friday. Not only did Flower Alley Kabon Kapi win the fifth race on the card, but Flower Alley’s recent Listed Betway Algoa Cup winning son Firealley captured Friday’s Founders Trophy.
The chestnut went close to having a treble on Friday with Flower Alley gelding Arividicio finishing second in the eighth and final race at Fairview.
Classy seven-year-old Firealley picked up his seventh win, and pushed his earnings to over R900 000, when he won Friday’s Founders Trophy (Non Black-Type) over 1600 metres.
Under Marco Van Rensburg, the Jacques Strydom trained gelding hit the front 100m from home, and Firealley kept going gamely to win by half a length.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Firealley, who is out of the Galileo mare Fire Spinner, made it back to back wins with his latest victory.
His previous wins included the 2021 G2 Peninsula Handicap.
Flower Alley is also the sire of consistent mare Kabon Kapi, with that five-year-old victorious in Friday’s Racing240 For Racing. For You Pinnacle Stakes (1000 metres).
Trained by Zietsman Oosthuizen, Kabon Kapi made all the running, under Eldin Webber, to win by a short-head.
Bred by Wicklow Stud, the daughter of Flower Alley has either won or finished second or third in her last five starts.
Out of the Captain Al mare Skipping Gal, Kabon Kapi is bred on the same cross as multiple G1 winning champion Princess Calla.
Flower Alley had also enjoyed success at Vaal on Thursday where his son Radicchio won the sixth race on the card. The Barend Botes trained five-year-old made it a hatrick of wins when he won the TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 Middle Stakes (1475m) on Thursday.
