Wilgerbosdrift’s promising sire Buffalo Bill Cody had feature race success at Turffontein on Saturday.
His progressive son Buffalo Storm Cody, a member of his sire’s eye catching first crop, made it back to back wins when he won the Mythical Flight Sprint (Non-Black Type) over 1100 metres.
He provided his sire with a 100% strike rate on Saturday, with Buffalo Storm Cody being Buffalo Bill Cody’s sole runner on the card.
Under Gavin Lerena, the Tony Peter trained three-year-old hit the front 450m from and Buffalo Storm Cody fought off his rivals to win convincingly by two lengths.
The gelding is now likely to be aimed at various KZN features later in the season.
Bred by Narrow Creek Stud, Buffalo Storm Cody has won three of just nine starts.
Out of the Trippi mare Musical Romance, Buffalo Storm Cody was a R410 000 purchase from the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.
Buffalo Storm Cody is one of ten winners to have emerged from Buffalo Bill Cody’s first 17 runners in his initial crop, with this crop also including G3 Betway Lebelo Sprint winner Pistol Pete.
A son of legendary sire Redoute’s Choice (as are the likes of Rafeef and Snitzel), Buffalo Bill Cody had yearlings make up to R550 000 at the recent National Yearling Sale.
