Bryanston Auctioneers East Cape Guineas glory for Fire Away


Wilgerbosdrift’s red hot sire Fire Away has had an excellent few weeks, and the son of War Front’s great form continued on Friday.

Fire Away gelding My Best Shot made it four wins in a row when he won Friday’s Listed Bryanston Auctioneers East Cape Guineas (1600m) at Fairview.
Under Richard Fourie, the Alan Greeff trained three-year-old made it back to back Listed wins with an impressive display on Friday.

My Best Shot romped home, going away, to win impressively by a length and a quarter.
Having won the first two legs of the Eastern Cape Triple Crown, My Best Show is being aimed at the final leg of the Crown, the Listed East Cape Derby.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, My Best Shot has won eight of 14 starts, with the gelding’s latest win taking his earnings to R631 725.

My Best Shot, who is out of the Fort Wood mare Gypsy Madonna, was a R120 000 buy from the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.
His G3 Dixie Stakes winning sire has had a wonderful few weeks, with Fire Away responsible for the first two home in the G1 TAB SA Classic, as well as impressive recent Cape Racing Sale Cape Slipper winner Military Command.
The son of outstanding sire War Front has ten lots on offer at the National Yearling Sale including a filly (Lot 224) closely inbred to War Front.
